Lauryn Evarts Bosstick - Blog #4

The Skinny Confidential
When deciding which celebrity’s social media presence I wanted to asses I decided I should choose one that I interact with on a daily basis. I recognized quickly that I follow a lot of influencers but not many true celebrities. I decided to asses my favorite influencer because she has such a wide range of regularly used platforms. Lauryn Evarts Bosstick, also known as The Skinny Confidential, is a life style blogger and host of her own podcast. She regularly uses Instagram, posts weekly podcasts, has a YouTube channel for vlogs, her personal blog, utilizes her three other Instagram accounts, and has an active Facebook group for fans. Lauryn Evarts Bosstick is the epitome of an influencer and one of the reasons she has so much success is because of how honest and active she is. I have learned quite a lot about her life from her stories, podcasts, and posts. It is clear that she is incredibly open about her life and will share just about anything with her fans.

Lauryn Evarts Bosstick runs four Instagram accounts which appears to be her most used social media site. Her main account, Theskinnyconfidential is certified and she has 946k followers and only followers 4,027 people back. Her other accounts are dedicated to aspects of her life that fans seem to enjoy. The next popular is her TSCpodcast account where she uploads information of recent episodes, guests, and often posts stories with polls asking fans what type of content they like to see. Her last two accounts are dedicated to products she enjoys, and her lifestyle/fitness routines. Every single aspect of Lauryn’s life is displayed on these few accounts. She even goes way in depth on her recent pregnancy and birth experiences showing how open she really is. On Theskinnyconfidential there is always at least one story up, often they are talking videos that last 30-60 seconds and are informative about her day, products, a new routine, or she’ll just chat to catch followers up on her and her husband’s life. She posts about every other day and maintains a very clear pink and white theme that makes her page very aesthetically pleasing. This theme is present on every one of her platforms to make sure everything matches and its brand. It is evident through this color scheme and the usage of TSC on banners that she has successfully created a recognizable brand for herself. On Instagram, Lauryn does reply to a decent amount of comments, especially when a follower asks a question about a specific aspect of the post. Since she runs a blog, she typically links them to the blog or podcast where she talks about the question that they ask.

Lauryn’s podcast is definitely her second largest platform and has allowed her to grow greatly as an influencer. Each week she has other celebrities, influencers, health coaches, doctors, etc. as guests and typically the podcasts she very valuable information. The realness of her podcast really has taken her far. The tone is always a little funny, very real, honest, yet it is clear the goal is to inform listeners on something new and different. The podcast is incredibly professional, and this is most likely because her husband owns the podcast producing company however, they were very early into the podcast game which they often mention has allowed them to be more successful because they gained loyal listeners before there were too many to choose from. The range of the guests also makes Lauryn seem much more authentic and interesting because it is always something new. One of the most admirable aspects of her is that she is constantly learning which is clear in her videos and posts because she often talks about new health routines (80x20 dieting, skincare, sun care, exercises) that are healthy, holistic, and work for her. She also shows that she won't just let anyone sponsor them because she will try a product for four months before even speaking about it on her blog, videos, or episodes. It is refreshing seeing an influencer actually sharing information that they believe in, not just information they are paid to say.

Clearly, influencers these days have plenty of brand deals. Some of Theskinnyconfidentials are Thrive Market, Four-Sigmatic, Talkspace, The Ouai, and Ancient Nutrition. These collaborations range from health foods, to hair products, to clothes, to educational online sites, to skincare. The only aspect of Lauryn’s online presence that sometimes does get frustrating or annoying is how often they have to speak about these deals in each podcast. She tries her best to make it known that these are products she actually uses and enjoys however, it’s gets repetitive. This is not only an issue for Lauryn’s, but for all influencers. It makes social network sites seem clouded with ads and deals and not always genuine content. However, I think that with the massive amount of following, range of platforms used, and frequency of posting The Skinny Confidential or Lauryn Evarts Bosstick has found a way to develop engaging content, develop a brand, and even develop relationships with followers because of the amount she replies and asks for input. The Facebook group is a great example of her interactions with followers because, in this page women talk about all types of life issues or questions and when possible, she adds input or will even talk about the issues on her podcast. Lauryn has created a brand for herself and now is expanding that brand by creating pages for bloggers, fitness gurus, and more. Although she promotes and lives a luxurious life, she keeps her page real, shows products most people can afford, and always shows her true self. I think that all of this combined has allowed her to see success with blogging and influencing. The most important aspect is that she has always been one step ahead of her time with podcasts, product sharing, and initially her lifestyle blog. I think she is in a great place for the type of audience she wants and does not need to do much to change to grow an audience. She is passed the stage where joining Tik Tok would help, and for the content she shares Twitter would seem somewhat useless because so much of her content is visual or audio.
