Lisa Lanceford aka @lisafiitt

To help decide what celebrity to write about and analyze, I immediately opened Instagram and began scrolling through my feed. I decided to pick a British influencer Lisa Lanceford, otherwise known as @lisafiit. Lanceford is a fitness model and trainer who got popular by uploading her daily gym workouts. She has been sponsored by many successful workout brands such as Gymshark. She shot to fame after being picked up as a Gymshark athlete and fans were quick to fall in love with her funny and quirky personality. With her rise to fame, she began her own company and runs her fitness app. Lanceford is always active on Instagram, her app and website, and YouTube.

Lanceford has dedicated her Instagram to daily workout videos and the promotion of her brand, as well as her sponsors. The quality of her videos and a broad range of workout moves always bring her fans something new. She is consistent with posts and one can tell the aesthetic of her Instagram is all about health and her business. Occasionally fans will get a post about a life update or a selfie, but most of the time her content will be workout related. She uploads to her Instagram story daily and was quick to use the feature of IGTV videos. The color scheme of her Instagram page is mostly white, with her saved highlights having covers of pink marble. The font, size, and color of the writing in her Instagram videos are all the same and each workout video starts with her doing some quirky dance move. Her dedication to her brand and the consistency of content has helped her develop a loyal fanbase of 1.5 Million who are quick to purchase her products and leave glowing reviews. She will engage with them by doing a couple of live streams every month and answering questions, as well as replying to a few comments.

Lanceford’s app and website stay with the theme of a white background, with pink accents. A link from her Instagram bio will bring to a page where you can purchase a subscription to her app. There is also a link to her website where there are more options to purchase her merchandise, as well as meal and workout plans. All prices are in Euros, due to her nationality. Descriptions on her app and website both highlight the importance of building strong girls, both in the gym and outside of it. Lanceford has created a business that entices women to start a journey to change their lives for the better. There is a page for FAQs on both the website, but no other engaging content between her and the customers. You have to purchase the app to be able to explore its features more deeply.

Lanceford’s YouTube gives more of a personal look into the life of her and her husband. She constantly uploads videos about getting to know the couple, her surgical journeys, and other aspects of how she maintains a healthy lifestyle. While there are still some mentions of her business endeavors, they are not as heavily pushed in comparison to her other social media platforms. The color scheme stays consistent with the white and pink accents as well. She comes off very candid and friendly, and continuously engages in conversations with her fans through Q&A videos and responding to questions and concerns in comments.

It is no secret that almost all popular social media influencers and celebrities are engaged in at least one brand deal and at times. This is a key piece of how social media has changed the entire science behind gaining a loyal consumer audience. However, it gets annoying when a promotion is slid in almost every post or video. A major critique I have for Lanceford is the consistent promotion of her products and those of her sponsors. This critique is heavily applied to her app. She offers a brief overview of what it is but to see more, you must engage in a free 7-day trial, then a hefty subscription price. Researching for this blog, almost every link off her social media platforms brought you to some page where at least one product was being pushed for you to buy. This annoying increase in selling products does not apply to Lanceford alone, but all influencers. With the rise of so many new faces of influencers across all social media platforms, I understand the need to maintain a strong presence and make the most income you can, but I find myself wanting certain products the less I see them annoying put in my face. Going along the rise of influencers on other apps, I think it would be helpful for Lanceford to move to Twitter or even TikTok, to gain more followers and maybe reach a broader audience. I would also like her to speak more about empowering women to be strong and healthy inside and out because, with the rise of social media and the influence it has on women and girls, it is important to continually spread the message of body positivity and self-worth. If she only speaks on it with a product attached, it can come off as a business move, instead of an authentic message.
